Hematoxylin & Eosin Necklace
This necklace uses the colors that are demonstrated in the Hematoxylin & Eosin stain. The H&E is a routine stain used daily in the histology lab. It is used to stain the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells, and is the first stain done on any tissue removed from the body. As the starting point for all diagnosis it gives the pathologist a tremendous amount of information and helps to determine if further studies are needed. The 8mm round purple center bead depicts the nucleus and the three different shades of pink 4mm bicone crystals depict the various cellular components scattered throughout the cytoplasm.
It is a stunning necklace.
Close up view.
My first sample was purchased my Rita Lovshe of Lab Storage Systems, Inc. to give away at her booth this year at the 2012 NSH in Vancouver, BC

Just wanted to repost these pictures so it is easier for people looking at the blog to find the pictures.
Hope you enjoy them. I have been working on some new pieces and should be able to post pictures very soon.

I am certainly enjoying my time here beading with my sister, Linda, Mega, and Terri. We go to bead night on Mondays at the local bead store H&P Beads, then on Wednesdays we go to the library where a local bead group meets. Also, we go to Terri's and bead on other days, as well as beading either here or at my sister's house. I am getting to know quite a few really special ladies. They are such artist. It inspires and humbles me to be surrounded by such talent. They challenge me to do more.

Craft Studio

Happy Mother's Day to all. It is beautiful here in Florida and I have the honor of going to Church with my lovely precious Mom today.

Look what I have been doing!

I have been home here in Florida for two weeks and have been busy getting my craft studio ready. My sweet husband put the white cabinets up for me and I made the table covers to coordinate the look. I used a handmade quilt hanging my friend Janet made for me as the inspiration for the colors. I think I'll be able to do a lot of beading and jewelry making in this room. I just love it. So, this afternoon, I'll be here creating if you need me.
