December 2012

It has been a busy couple of weeks for me with enteertaining family for Thanksgiving and getting ready for Christmas. My sister and I participated in the a craft show at the mall last weekend. We had a lot of fun meeting people and selling some jewelry. On Saturday we will be at Market Days Arts and Craft Show at Heritage Village in Crystal River with our jewelry. Hope some of you are able to come by and see us. I just made some really cute Christmas earrings.

Beading Update

This is my latest necklace. It is a spiral made with Sapphire Satin 4mm bicone Swarovski Elements and gold seed beads. I just love it. It is so beautiful. The picture doesn't do it justice. I made it for my friend Marian. Can hardly wait to see it on her. Of, course she is getting the Sapphire Satin tennis bracelet to go with it. She'll really be decked out for all those Christmas parties.

I have been so busy going to bead night at the bead store and to the library to bead with friends. I also started a part time job, so that has taken up quite a bit of time.  Things should settle down just in time to get busy making Christmas gifts. I have gotten started on that. I invited my Mom, my sister, Linda and her sister-in-law, Kathleen over on Tuesday for a crafting afternoon. We made very special gift tags to use with our Christmas gifts this year. No jewelry invovled, however we did add some bling.

Today, I have been making cozy blanket for my grandsons for Christmas. I haven't come up with a craft idea for my grnaddaughter, yet. In the past I have made her aprons and handbags. I have been searching Pinterest for ideas.

New photostream photos

I have added new photos to my photostream of my rings. These rings can be made in any color combination and size. We are limited only by our imagination. They are truly beautiful when you see them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/63727748@N06/8114220852/

Vancouver, BC

Had some sight seeing adventures with my friend Janet while in Vancouver. Just wanted you all to know I did find a bead store in New Westminster a suburbs of Vancouver.

I had a lot of fun showing my jewelry to my histology friends while at the conventions. I donated the Methyl Green Pyronin necklace for the PR committee to give away. Paul Billings of AL won it. He gave me some ideas about designs for a mens collections.

Jewelry Roll

I finished making my jewelry roll. I will use it to carry and displayed my jewelry at craft shows as well as my NSH Convention/Symposium. I think it will really be a more useful and lighter weight option than carrying plastic boxes. Let me know what you think. I made two rolls without using any kind of pattern. The bar for the rings snaps on one end so I can slide the rings on and off.

Friday August 17, 2012

Today I am off to JoAnn's Fabrics to purchase supplies to make a jewelry roll that I can carry and display my jewelry samples in where ever I travel. I will be going to the NSH S/C in Vancouver, BC in September and need the lightest weight possible way to carry and display my jewelry. I have been using boxes that I repurposed but decided it would be helpful not to have the extra weight of the box. It is so important to have the jewelry displayed easily and for the display to be attractive. What I have in mind should do the trick. I'll post a picture when I get finished. I have been busy beading and learning new designs.

July 6, 2012 Beading with my granddaughter.

I spent the day with my granddaughter, Paige. I helped her design a necklace and then she did the stringing all by herself. She was extremely focused and the results were terrific. I am so proud of Paige.

Beading in Crystal River

Pictures from Monday night's Bead Night. What a blast!

I certainly am enjoying my time here in Crystal River. It has been such a pleasure to get to know all of the gals at Bead Night at H&P Beads and at the library Bead group on Wednesdays. What an amazing group of talented people, artist to the core! They all are so very generous to share their expertise. I am so blessed to be a part of the groups.

Hematoxylin & Eosin Necklace
This necklace uses the colors that are demonstrated in the Hematoxylin & Eosin stain. The H&E is a routine stain used daily in the histology lab. It is used to stain the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells, and is the first stain done on any tissue removed from the body. As the starting point for all diagnosis it gives the pathologist a tremendous amount of information and helps to determine if further studies are needed. The 8mm round purple center bead depicts the nucleus and the three different shades of pink 4mm bicone crystals depict the various cellular components scattered throughout the cytoplasm.
It is a stunning necklace.
Close up view.
My first sample was purchased my Rita Lovshe of Lab Storage Systems, Inc. to give away at her booth this year at the 2012 NSH in Vancouver, BC

Just wanted to repost these pictures so it is easier for people looking at the blog to find the pictures.
Hope you enjoy them. I have been working on some new pieces and should be able to post pictures very soon.

I am certainly enjoying my time here beading with my sister, Linda, Mega, and Terri. We go to bead night on Mondays at the local bead store H&P Beads, then on Wednesdays we go to the library where a local bead group meets. Also, we go to Terri's and bead on other days, as well as beading either here or at my sister's house. I am getting to know quite a few really special ladies. They are such artist. It inspires and humbles me to be surrounded by such talent. They challenge me to do more.

Craft Studio

Happy Mother's Day to all. It is beautiful here in Florida and I have the honor of going to Church with my lovely precious Mom today.

Look what I have been doing!

I have been home here in Florida for two weeks and have been busy getting my craft studio ready. My sweet husband put the white cabinets up for me and I made the table covers to coordinate the look. I used a handmade quilt hanging my friend Janet made for me as the inspiration for the colors. I think I'll be able to do a lot of beading and jewelry making in this room. I just love it. So, this afternoon, I'll be here creating if you need me.

More traveling

WildBeads in Arlington, TX. is an awesome bead store. I was really impressed with their selection. The staff, Patty, Terri, Jennifer, and Kathy were so friendly and helpful. I had a great time checking it all out. If you're ever in the area check it out or check out their website www.wildbeads.biz.

Jan. 28, 2012 Celebration Time

Yesterday was my last day at Dermatology Associates after 20 plus years. I am on to new challenges professionally. I have started my own company, Histology Pro Consulting, LLC. I will be focusing most of my energy on this endeavor for the time being. However, I will need some leisure time. I am thinking I will find some new bead stores as I travel with my business. Please bear with me and I will get back to posting pictures and descriptions of my Special Stain Collection as well as other jewelry I make. For now I will repost some older pieces. Lots of love.

Jan. 4, 2012

I am sorry I haven't had time to post anything lately. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year. Things are really changing in my life and unforunately, I have not had time to bead since before Christmas. However, as soon as things settle I will get back to it. Can't stay away too long, I'll go crazy. I'll leave you with this thought, life is a series of up and down. Don't despair if you are in a down cycle. Just go get busy with your hobby ( or if you can't afford your hobby right now look for a way to help someone else ) and after a while life will change again. Love to you all.
